1986
Summa Cum Laude
I graduated from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois in 1986, having attended DePaul University, Chicago, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1981. My work experience includes working as a social worker with the American Red Cross in the disaster relief efforts. After law school, I worked as Assistant State's Attorney where I handled numerous criminal jury trials and headed the juvenile delinquency division.
At the Public Guardian's office, I represented abused and neglected children and disabled adults handling all the aspects of their estate management. My passion has always been to help people and guide them through life's legal issues.
I am an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association as well as the American Academy of Adoption & Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, past chair of the Chicago Bar Association Adoption Law Committee, and frequent publisher of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) handbook on adoption.
What truly compelled me to go into the area of adoption law was the failed adoption we suffered. The hurt and frustration only fueled my desire for adoption reform. As a result, I worked closely on legislative revisions which became law in Illinois (the putative father registry) and strengthened the finality of adoptions.
